Last year this was more of a strike against TurboTax, as the TaxCut app cost ten bucks less. This brings up my other complaint about the service: namely, that it's expensive. TaxCut's help will set you back only $19.95 per call, and TaxAct's is free. When I finally did get through the advice was satisfactory, but it cost $29.95 a shot that's pricey. Daytime weekday results were better, but, honestly, that's when you're supposed to be earning the salaries on which you're taxed, not doing your taxes. TurboTax also has an option for live support via telephone, but I got a message saying that it wasn't available due to high volume when I tried at on a weekday at 9:30 p.m. I found TurboTax's user community to be active and useful, and, as in previous years, its included multilevel help system is the best in the field.
